Research report
Introduction
The research was conducted within the framework of the cross-border project ROLE-ART: Promoting the active participation and involvement of young people through artistic methods and cultural cooperation, and it was carried out by Transylvanian Inquiry, a company specialized in social science research. The aim of the project is to offer new opportunities for active participation to young people living in Csongrád-Csanád County and Timiș County, and to develop good practices for involving passive young people.
The main objective of the research is to assess the level and forms of cultural and social participation among young people after the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on the types of activities they attend and the social networks they engage with. Additionally, we wanted to examine the growing virtualization of youth and the influence of social media on young people’s participation and interaction patterns. These will be used to provide a foundation for developing professional methods and teaching materials used in youth-related projects by analyzing the research outcomes, and also to establish a basis for longitudinal comparison for future research to be conducted in the year following the end of the project.
The report is structured as follows. First the methodology of the research is presented, then the results of the survey based on the three researched topics: online presence, personal well-being and trust and social participation of young people. Last, but not least, we focus on the results of the focus group research.
