Since 2018, the Bálványos Institute (balvanyos.org) has been operating under the foundation’s aegis. The institute aims to provide scientifically grounded answers to important questions concerning minority communities in Romania. It focuses particularly on research related to interethnic relations, language policy, and education. The institute’s core activities include data collection, evaluation, research, and analysis, resulting in research reports, sociological studies, policy analyses, and professional materials useful for decision-makers and advocacy organizations.

The foundation has established numerous partnerships with schools in the counties of Timiș, Hunedoara, Arad, and Bihor. In these collaborations, special emphasis is placed on programs that go beyond traditional education frameworks, providing young people with new knowledge. We have implemented projects that allow students interested in various fields (social sciences, visual arts, film, literature) to develop their talents under the guidance of experts. Additionally, we have created projects that encourage students’ active participation in social and school activities. We also have decades of experience in developing educational games that support playful learning.

We consider multilingualism and multiculturalism to be both a virtue and a resource. A key focus is the development of methodological materials that assist kindergarten teachers and educators in integrating bilingual children into monolingual school environments, improving Hungarian or Romanian language skills, and fostering positive attitudes toward multilingualism. Our projects have addressed the delicate relations among Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, and Roma who live together in Transylvania and the Banat region.
